I have been working in wood most of my life. No other pursuit has ever brought me the satisfaction that woodworking has. I'm good at it too, as I hope this collection of photos will demonstrate.
In addition to the cabinets, doors, furniture and built-ins I have created for clients in my woodshop, I also built two homes for my family, and extensively remodeled a third, and I am proud to include that work here in my portfolio. I also enjoy trim carpentry in the field, especially with moldings and components created in my shop and there are examples of that work here as well.
For many years, I've avoided using irreplaceable exotic hardwoods or manufactured products containing formaldehyde in my work. Now I'm learning to be greener. This includes using beetle-killed blue stained pine from Colorado’s dying forests, using lumber that is FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified, and seeking out sustainable, plantation-grown lumber like Lyptus (looks like mahogany), Ipe (instead of teak) and Bamboo (amazing stuff, and available as plywood, too).
I also try to use only low VOC, water-based finishes, and I strive to keep my wood waste to a minimum. |
